The Franklin-Springboro Public Library offers in-person programs to engage young readers. Details on upcoming programs can be found below.

Kindergarten Kick-Start

  • Dates: Saturdays, July 30, August 6, and August 13
  • Location: Franklin Library
  • Time: 10 - 11:30 a.m.
  • Age: 5 (This program is exclusively for children beginning kindergarten this school year.)
  • Registration: Required. Call (937) 746-2665 to sign up.
  • Description: Children beginning kindergarten this August will have an opportunity to practice some skills that will help them feel ready for their first day. With stories, songs, games, and activities, we'll practice not only the alphabet and counting, but also listening, taking turns, and patience. Other kindergarten skills like using scissors and glue, writing your name, and even choosing healthy snacks will be covered. Each of the three sessions will be different so we encourage you to sign up for all three if you are able.


Decorate a Treasure Box

  • Date: Friday, September 9
  • Location: Franklin Library
  • Time: 4 - 5:30 p.m.
  • Ages: 6-12
  • Registration: Required. Call (937) 746-2665 to sign up.
  • Description: Participants will paint and decorate a treasure box that they will take home with them. The program also will include a treasure hunt game in the library.


Book POP! -- Tween Book Club

  • Dates: Tuesdays, September 13, October 11, and November 8
  • Location: Springboro City Building Community Room, 320 W. Central Ave. in Springboro (Next to the library.)
  • Time: 5 - 6:30 p.m.
  • Ages: 9-12
  • Registration: Required, as space and supplies are limited. Call (937) 748-3200 to sign up.
  • Description: Participants read a specific book prior to the meeting date and then attend the Book POP meeting to discuss the book, do a book-related activity, and have light snacks. Those who register for this program may pick up the book for the next meeting at the Springboro Branch. (If you prefer to pick the book up from the Franklin Branch, let us know when you register and we'll have the book sent to Franklin.)

Homeschool Project Zone

  • Dates: Tuesdays, September 20, October 18, and November 15
  • Location: Franklin Library
  • Time: 2 - 3:30 p.m.
  • Ages: 5-12
  • Registration: Required. Call (937) 746-2665 to sign up.
  • Description: A program for homeschoolers ages 5-12 is held at 2 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month, September - November at the Franklin Library. This 90-minute program includes directions and supplies for completing one or two projects or crafts. A different project is featured each month. Registration is required, as space and supplies are limited. Call the library to sign up for one or multiple Homeschool Project Zone sessions.


Poetry & Art

  • Date: Saturday, September 24
  • Location: Franklin Library
  • Time: 10 a.m. - noon
  • Ages: 3-12
  • Registration: NOT Required. This is a drop-in program.
  • Description: Stop by the Franklin Library between 10 a.m. and noon Saturday, September 24, to read some poems and draw or paint a picture inspired by the poetry. Make a piece of poetry-inspired art to take home with you. All supplies will be provided.


Chemistry Show

  • Date: Saturday, October 22
  • Location: Franklin Library
  • Time: 11 a.m. - noon
  • Ages: 6-12

  • Description: As part of National Chemistry Week, chemist Bill Crawford will present a chemistry show from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, October 22, at the Franklin Library. Learn about chemistry as you watch amazing experiments.
