Family Art Project

  • Date: Saturday, September 28
  • Time: 2 - 3:30 p.m.
  • Location: Franklin Library
  • Registration: Not required. 
  • Ages: Children ages 5-12 and their caregivers.

Calling all kid artists and their creative grownups! Join us at the library for a fun art project you can make together. Use paint, glue, pom-poms, buttons, and more to design a unique work of art. Sibling groups may make their own individual paintings or work together on a collaborative piece. Caregiver participation is required. 

Please note: this activity does include paint so dress accordingly. 

 

Book POP! Book Club

  • Date: Tuesday, October 8
  • Time: 5:30 - 7 p.m.
  • Location: Springboro Library
  • Registration: Required. Call the Springboro Library at (937) 748-3200 to sign up.
  • Ages: 9-12

Book POP is a book club for readers in 4th- through 6th-grade. We read a new book each month and then meet to discuss the book, do book related activities, and have snacks. For the October 8 meeting, we will read The Fire, the Water, and Maudie McGinn by Sally J. Pla. Books will be available for pick-up at the Springboro Library beginning September 10. If you'd prefer to pick up the book from the Franklin Library, let us know when you register and we'll send a copy to Franklin for you.

 

Book Splash Book Club

  • Date: Thursday, October 10
  • Time: 5:00 - 5:45 p.m.
  • Location: Springboro Library
  • Registration: Not required.
  • Ages: 5-7

Join the book club for readers in kindergarten and first grade. We will read stories together at the meeting and then do story-related activities. This club is for children of ALL reading levels. We emphasize the fun and joy of reading. The October 10 meeting will feature the fairy tale "Jack and the Beanstalk" and super fun art and STEM activities. Caregivers must remain with their children throughout the program. 

 

Homeschool Project Zone

  • Date: Tuesday, October 15
  • Time: 2 - 3:30 p.m.
  • Location: Franklin Library
  • Registration: Required. Call the Franklin Library at (937) 746-2665 to sign up.
  • Ages: 5-12.

Calling all homeschoolers ages 5-12! Join us for fun and educational projects this fall! Each month's meeting will feature a new activity. For the October 15 meeting, we'll be making ABC autobiographies.  Each child will get a blank book in which to write or draw about their life and their favorite things! This activity is for children of all writing and artistic abilities. Caregivers must remain with their children throughout the program.

Please note that younger siblings are welcome at homeschool meetings and will be able to participate when sufficient supplies are available. 

 

Book Buzz Book Club

  • Date: Thursday, October 17
  • Time: 5:00 - 5:45 p.m.
  • Location: Springboro Library
  • Registration: Not required.
  • Ages: 7-9

Join the book club for readers in second and third grade. Get the chosen book from the library, read it at home, and come to the meeting for discussion and fun activities. For the October 17 meeting, we will read Wallace and Grace Take the Case by Heather Alexander, and we'll solve some mysteries of our own. Copies of the book will be available at the Springboro Library starting October 1. If you'd prefer to pick up the book from the Franklin Library, let us know and we'll send a copy to Franklin for you.

 

Spooky Stories and Creepy Crafts

  • Date: Saturday, October 19
  • Time: 2 - 3:30 p.m.
  • Location: Springboro Library
  • Registration: Not required.
  • Ages: 5-9.

Get in the Halloween spirit with some not-too-scary picture books and a few adorably creepy crafts. Younger siblings are welcome to attend and may participate if sufficient supplies are available. Caregivers must remain with their children throughout the program.

 

Homeschool Art Class

  • Time: 2 - 3:30 p.m.
  • Location: Springboro Library
  • Registration: Required. Call the Springboro Library at (937) 748-3200 to sign up.
  • Ages: 5-12.

Join us for Homeschool Art Class, where children will have an opportunity to hear about famous artists, learn to recognize different art styles, and use their creativity to make their own art. The October 23 meeting will feature Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh. Caregivers must remain with their children throughout the program.

Please note that younger siblings are welcome at homeschool meetings and will be able to participate when sufficient supplies are available. 

 

Chemistry Show

  • Date: Saturday, October 26
  • Time: 11 a.m. - noon
  • Location: Franklin Library

  • Ages: 7-12.

As part of National Chemistry Week, chemist Bill Crawford will perform experiments where kids can learn about chemical reactions and the many ways that chemistry shows up in everyday life. 

 

Book POP! Book Club

Festive Stories and Snacks

Celebrate winter and the holidays with us at the library with Festive Stories and Snacks! We will have a short storytime featuring festive books to celebrate the season followed by a simple snack and pictures to color. Different stories and snacks will be featured each day, so you may attend each day if you'd like. Caregivers must remain with their children throughout the program. Please pay close attention to the dates, times, and locations listed below. 

Children of all ages are welcome to attend, but this program will best be enjoyed by those ages 3-7.
