Property Tax Q&A Session With Warren County Chief Deputy Auditor Matt Nolan

For most people the largest check you write every year is for your property taxes, yet few people know much about them.

~ Are you paying too much?

~ Are there programs that can help senior citizens or those disabled?

~ What do you need to do if you think the Auditor has over-valued your property?

~ Are you aware of the change in the law affecting senior citizens?  It is very important that everyone 65 and older know about the Homestead Exemption to taxes and to make sure you are in the program.

Speaker Matt Nolan is the Chief Deputy Auditor for the Warren County Auditor's Office.  He is the local expert in all things property tax related including tax levies and property valuations.

Program is free.  No registration is required.

World War I and the Creation of the Middle East

Dr. Vaughn Shannon will discuss the causes, conduct and consequences of World War I - how the war reshaped the Middle East to what it looks like today, both in terms of geography and, more importantly, in terms of lingering conflicts in the region.  He will examine how the "war to end all wars," according to historian David Fromkin, created "A Peace to End All Peace."

Dr. Vaughn Shannon is Associate Professor of Political Science at Wright State University.  He received his PhD at Ohio State University.  His research and teaching focus is on Middle East politics, international security, and political psychology.  He has published on the Arab-Israeli Conflict as well as US relations with Iran and Iraq.

Program is free.

David Fromkin's book, "A Peace to End All Peace" is available at the Franklin-Springboro Library.

Gone Girl

by Gillian Flynn

In a story full of surprising twists, Gone Girl tracks the course of a marriage gone spectacularly wrong.  For the protagonists, it's a psychological battle with everything at stake; for the reader, an excavation of human failings and incredible depths of betrayal...and a mystery whose resolution is every bit as troubling as its beginning.

Books and reading guides are available at both Franklin and Springboro library branches.  No registration is required.

The FSPL Reading Group offers a nonjudgmental, uncritical discussion where everyone who wishes to contribute has the opportunity to do so.
